If you're looking for a simple and healthy recipe for a delicious berry jam with
chia seeds, you've come to the right place. Follow these steps to make a homemade jam, perfect for spreading on a slice of lightly toasted bread for a tasty and nutritious snack.
Preparing the Berries
First, it's essential to sterilize a glass jar and its lid. This step ensures optimal preservation of the jam. To do so, bring a pot of water to a boil and immerse the jar and lid for about 10 minutes. Once sterilized, let them cool and dry them thoroughly.
Next, take a large saucepan and pour the berries into it. Turn the heat to medium and cook the berries for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent them from sticking to the bottom of the pan. After 5 minutes of cooking, use a spatula to flatten the berries, resulting in a more uniform consistency.
Adding the Chia Seeds
After cooking for 10 minutes, remove the pan from the heat and add the
chia seeds. Stir well to ensure the seeds are evenly distributed throughout the jam. Chia seeds are rich in fiber and help give the jam a gelatinous consistency, without the need for pectin.
Storing the Jam
Now, pour the jam into the previously sterilized jar. During this process, stir the jam occasionally with a teaspoon to check that the chia seeds are properly gelling. Let the jam cool completely before closing the jar with the lid.
Taste Test
To test it, spread a little jam on a slice of lightly toasted bread. You'll taste the intense flavor of the berries combined with the unique texture of the chia seeds. Enjoy your snack!
